Plymouth MN Family Christmas Mini Session

It has been quite a long time since I’ve put up a new blog post. I figured I would take the time to update my clients and potential clients on my availability for sessions. A lot has happened over the last year and it has changed what I am able to take on.

A little less than a year ago I started getting sick…..all the time. I had a lump in my throat that I thought was just a swollen lymph node from being sick all the time……except I stopped getting sick (finally!) and it was still there. I finally went to get it checked out in July of last year. Several appointments for a biopsy and ultrasound and consults, then later surgery, I had a golf-ball sized mass and half of my thyroid removed at the end of September. The biopsy didn’t reveal whether it was cancerous or not and I could feel it every time I swallowed so the doctor & I agreed that surgery to remove it was the best course of action. It was the only way they would be able to determine for certain whether it was cancer or not. Thankfully, it wasn’t. It took a couple months for me to feel “normal” again (I’m still really really tired all the time and most days cannot make it without taking a nap–could be because half of my thyroid is missing–but that is yet to be determined by my doctors because my levels keep coming back normal) and for everything to heal up, but by that time I started developing pain in my abdomen/pelvis area–both left & right side (just before Thanksgiving). I’ve been to the doctor, had several tests run & ultrasounds done. So far, they still can’t figure out the source of the problem. Unfortunately for me, it still really hurts and I still need answers. Sometimes it’s just a dull ache, other times if feels exactly like the time I was in labor with the kid where my epidural only worked on one side of my body, and sometimes it feels like sharp stabbing pains.

Because of this continued problem and no known timeline for figuring out what is wrong, I am limiting the work I am willing to take on.

I’ve decided not to take on any work that requires me to move quickly, which means no family sessions, babies, toddlers, preschoolers, etc. Also, nothing that requires me to carry extensive amounts of equipment for long periods of time…..weddings and events.

Things I will still be doing include studio headshots, on-location office headshots, branding photos, mama-only maternity photos, and art/editorial work and boudoir. I can’t wait to get all of this figured out so I can get back to being ME, but in the mean time, this is what I have to do for now. Thank you for your patience & understanding!
