We started a new tradition a couple years ago. We take a semi-short road trip around my birthday……somewhere that isn’t too far to get to in one day or just over a day. Last year we made the drive to Tennessee to visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was absolutely beautiful. My favorite part of the trip was getting up at 5:00 am so we could see the sunrise at Clingman’s Dome. My son, who is the least morning person out of all of us, suggested this idea. I thought he was crazy, but it was the only request he made for the trip so we decided to go for it. It was freezing & windy but so worth it. If you have a chance to get out there, I highly recommend getting yourself up for sunrise. The clouds resting just under the tops of the mountains looked like an ocean. It was an amazing experience!
