As some of you know, I was formerly J Nack Photography. I was on hiatus for a few years, working on finally becoming a college graduate and working as an accountant while taking a break from being a photographer full time. I’m happy to now incorporate my accounting degree and knowledge doing the financials for my own business. Coming back to photography full time called for a rebrand. I wanted something soft and elegant but also something that incorporates my name. Through many sleepless nights while I tried to come up with the perfect name & logo, I settled on just me.

I missed the creativity and FUN of being a photographer while doing homework and working on spreadsheets. I LOVE capturing memories. I’m partial to the candid moments but I’m not going to shy away from those posed family shots, because let’s face it, I love them too. In October last year we drove to the Smoky Mountains for a camping trip. It was my birthday and I had one request – a family photo in the mountains. JUST ONE SHOT. I don’t know how we pulled it off but we did.

We spent most of the day driving around looking for the perfect spot and the perfect light. We weren’t finding it and light was fading. I was disappointed but I was also feeling guilty because my kids were such troopers and we hadn’t done anything fun all day. I gave up. We took the kids mini golfing and had a picnic dinner. The light was really fading fast at this point. I had given up all hope of getting that family photo. We were three minutes from the campground when I suddenly told my husband to turn around. There was an ice cream shop with a giant open field next to it and in the background……..beautiful mountains. We had maybe 10 minutes before it was too dark. I had everyone jump into place while I connected my camera to the tripod and took some test shots. I gave myself a ten second timer and RAN. They were not close. We did it. We got this in one take. I was so happy I almost cried. So yes, I love a good posed shot too.

I’m so happy to be able to say I’m open for business again! Julie Ann Photography specializes in weddings, headshots, high school seniors and families but I do many other types of photography as well. In my portfolio, you’ll find maternity & babies too.
